Fly Fisher Travel

Canada

Although Canada is well-known for its Atlantic salmon on the east coast, the runs of steelhead and king salmon on the rivers of British Columbia in the north west is what attracts the majority of intrepid fly fishers.

Lodges are invariably remote and in a wilderness setting. Some rivers have early steelhead runs but most of the steelhead fishing tends to be in the autumn months from mid-August to end October. In the mid-season, there is good fishing for king salmon, other Pacific salmon species and summer run steelhead.

Similar to other migratory species, steelhead are a prized and hard-fighting fish that are challenging but enormously rewarding to fish for.
