Fly Fisher Travel

Argentina

Argentina boasts as varied fishing as the country itself.

In the extreme south, both in Tierra del Fuego and Santa Cruz provinces, the Rio Grande and Rio Gallegos have outstanding sea trout fishing from December to April. Argentina has arguably the best sea trout fishing anywhere in the world. An average-sized sea trout is around the 10lbs mark and there is a realistic opportunity to land a 20lber during the course of a week.

Throughout much of Argentine Patagonia, there exists some superb trout fishing for both browns and rainbows during the summer months. Together with neighbouring Chile, Argentina would certainly be in the shortlist for the world’s best trout nations.

Further to the north in Corrientes province, there is the relatively recently discovered fishing for golden dorado. This is a predatory fish that inhabits the rivers and marsh areas north of Buenos Aires, a habitat that is teeming with wildlife.

We have visited many non-fishing venues in Argentina and Chile so are well-equipped to organise your fishing trip together with additional sightseeing.
